SampoVolt

Battery and electrification company

Building batteries and the manufacturing systems required to scale them.

SampoVolt is an early-stage company developing integrated cell, manufacturing, formation, and pack architectures. We treat those layers as one system, because promising battery advances too often fail in the gap between laboratory performance and a product that can be made, deployed, and supported.

The problem

Laboratory potential is not a product.

Many promising battery technologies struggle not because their chemistry lacks potential, but because the cell architecture, manufacturing process, formation system, thermal management, and end application were not designed together.

The usual fracture

A material looks compelling in a cell that cannot be manufactured at rate, formed efficiently, kept in its operating window, or packed into the machine that is supposed to use it.

The missing integration

Pressure control, heat, electrical paths, factory flow, and the first commercial application are too often treated as later problems. They are the product.

The SampoVolt approach

One system. From cell to application.

SampoVolt co-designs the cell, the production process, the formation process, the pack, and the application. The aim is manufacturability, controlled pressure, thermal management, formation efficiency, energy density, and scalability as system outcomes, not isolated laboratory claims.

Platform themes

Three lines of work, one architecture.

01

Scalable advanced-cell manufacturing

Production methods intended to turn advanced cells into a manufacturing program, rather than leaving a laboratory process to invent a factory after the fact.

02

Cell-to-pack mechanical and thermal integration

The cell and the pack conceived together, so structure, current, and heat are managed as one system instead of as aftermarket packaging.

03

Electrification and repower systems

Work first in sites and machines that need energy now, using chemistries that are ready now. That builds manufacturing, packs, and field learning so harder transportation markets can take future chemistries later.

Commercialization path

Start where the work can be learned. Climb as the platform matures.

SampoVolt does not treat aviation, or any other highest-difficulty market, as the first commercial gate. Present work is sites and machines that need energy now, on chemistries that are ready now. Future chemistries belong in later, harder transportation markets. That sequence is program direction, not a catalog of products already for sale.

Now · development

Stationary energy

Lower-risk, serviceable energy applications where manufacturing, pack practice, and operating data can be built with a clearer path to use.

Now · development

Electric-dominant repower

Existing high-value machines whose power systems age out before the asset does. A way to put packs to work without waiting on a new vehicle program.

Later · intended

Advanced transportation

Higher-energy vehicle applications as manufacturing capability, pack expertise, field data, and revenue accumulate.

Vision · long-term

Aviation

A long-term destination for the architecture, not a present product, certification program, or dated launch.

Founder

Built as a company, not only as a cell concept.

Founder, SampoVolt

Andrew Crawford founded SampoVolt with a background in law, organizational leadership, industrial operations, intellectual-property strategy, and AI-native systems development. Years inside John Deere manufacturing and parts operations, a hardware scale-up at The Boring Company, and current legal and people counsel work at Activision within Microsoft shaped the same conclusion: a battery company has to be built as an operating system, not only as a drawing.

SampoVolt is being built through a structured engineering knowledge system so architecture, manufacturing, and intellectual property stay in one governed model. The company intends to recruit a deeply technical co-founder, scientific advisers, research partners, and validation collaborators.

Current stage

Early, deliberate, and still being built.
